When Shawn and I were newly married and living in our cozy, one-bedroom condo, we began discussing what housing features were important to us in our future home. I was shocked by how different our ideas were about what constituted a good house, but utterly relieved that we had at least a few points of agreement along the way. As with many things, uniting around our commonalities served us well and we both set out to find a house with space for a comfortable table to gather around and a dedicated guest room for our future guests.
Our desire for those features sprang from a shared vision of hospitality that was in place long before Texas was even on our radar. Now that we do live out of state, we are continually thankful when we get to fill our guest room and our table with guests. Our Texas house isn't as big as our Minnesota house was, but God continues to send us the right number of guests for our space.
Over the week of Thanksgiving, we hosted my sister-in-law and 14-year-old niece and we had an absolute blast. Sights were seen, books were read, games were played, stores were browsed and bread was broken. It was an action-packed couple of days but it was comfortable and fun.
We give thanks for extended family, air-travel, and a home to share.
I hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful too!
Love,
Erica
