On the Mend

Hello!

Thanks for baring with us last week while we stepped away from the blog and addressed the ailments that were lingering in our home.  I am pleased to report that everyone seems to be mostly better but it has been a couple of months since all of us were 100% healthy at the same time.  Shawn and Jonah have been hit the hardest while Nicole and I seem to skate by either completely untouched or with a much milder version of whatever is plaguing our boys.  We've spent a lot of time at home together as a result as I can't help but feel overwhelmingly grateful for the comfort of our home and the ease of our relationships with one another.

We kept our Easter plans really simple because I didn't know if we'd be healthy enough to celebrate with friends.  Each part of our day was meaningful in its own right and it was neat to participate in such a sacred day as a family.

At the park after Church on Easter Sunday

We went to church, picked up a bag of donut holes on the way home and made one quick stop to look at the water and enjoy the ducks before our little buddy needed to take his morning nap.  Once we were home Shawn and I tag-teamed making Shepherds Pie for Easter dinner which Nicole played happily in the living room.  Our day was intimate and restful, just the way we like it.

Nicole participated in her first Easter Egg Hunt last year and has been talking about going again ever since.  We were able to go on a hunt at one of our favorite parks with our MOPS group which was fun for both kids.  Then, Shawn was able to take Nicole on a massive Easter Egg Hunt put on by our city, which Nicole loved even more.

It has been exhausting navigating so much sickness in our home but I am grateful that both of my kids are still small enough to hold, carry and rock.  This season is has been very hands on, but I have also been reminded of the healing power of touch for a small child.  Despite carrying a high fever for many days, Jonah was happy and calm if he was perched on my hip and Nicole frequently sought refuge in a warm hug.  I will fondly remember the feverish snuggles and the calming hugs for a long time to come.

I hope you are well!
