Waiting

As I write this post, I am still pregnant and we're all still waiting for baby brother to decide he's ready to enter the world.

Our freezer is full, our guest room is ready and I have multiple babysitters for Nicole standing by for when I go into labor.   We are ready and waiting for the birth of our son.  I am about 38 1/2 weeks pregnant right now and ordinarily I wouldn't be counting down just yet but I've gotten a lot of information throughout this pregnancy that has led me to believe that this baby was going to arrive sooner rather than later.  In this case, that information has not been very helpful and I've had to work pretty hard to reframe it to be a little more realistic.
Going to "Mommy's Appointment" to check on baby brother.  Nicole is very well liked by the entire clinic staff.  They have told us more than once that they always know when we're coming in and they don't know what they are going to do once the baby arrives and we won't be coming in for routine prenatal visits anymore.  I love it that Nicole is a friend to everyone she meets, no matter their age, race or occupation.  She has such a tender heart.
Two weeks ago my Doctor told me that she expected me to deliver within the week - no later than a week and half and here I am, still very pregnant.  I am grateful to be carrying a healthy baby in my tummy but I thought that by now I'd be carrying him in my arms.  It's been more difficult than I thought to mentally shift gears and trust that this will all happen exactly when it's supposed to.

We will announce the birth of our son, right here on the blog, so feel free to stay tuned in the days and weeks ahead.   After we announce his arrival, Shawn is planning on taking over the blog for a little bit to give me some space to recover, and to settle into life as a mommy of two.  He has some special posts planned to fill you in on the meaning of baby brothers name and will be sure to let you know how we're all doing as well.

Happy Easter!
Love,
Erica
