One of the more fluid aspects of Shawn's job is his travel. Every once in a while we'll have travel dates on our calendar a few months in advance, but for the most part, nothing is solidified until much closer to the actual event. When Shawn first started in his new role, these fluid details felt like they were going to be the cause of my undoing. Thankfully, we serve a big God and with His help, I am now able to be much more gracious and flexible about the open-ended nature of it all.
While I'm not entirely qualified to fill you in on all that Shawn does for a living, what I can tell you is that as an organization, Time to Revive works with local churches around the country to help unite them despite denominational differences. This work is ongoing and involves many communities around the US and even some globally. Time to Revive joins arms with these communities after someone local writes to the ministry and invites them to come into their town. The invitation is the starting point of the conversation and the work that follows depends largely on how ready and willing the community is to be united. You can imagine my absolute delight when I heard that a pastor from Wausau, Wisconsin had written to Time to Revive to invite them into North Central Wisconsin!
To make a long a story short, after months of talking with the Pastors in North Central Wisconsin, Time to Revive set the dates for reviveWisconsin for the end of the summer and the location for the event just so happened to be my hometown. Nicole and I don't normally travel with Shawn, but given the fact that he was packing his bags and heading to my old stomping grounds, Nicole and I packed our bags too and joined him for the journey. Two weeks ago we piled into our new van and drove the 1,119 miles to Wisconsin. reviveWisconsin is going on as we speak and Shawn, Nicole and I are all loving this unique season we get to spend at home together.
