Yesterday was October 18th - our second wedding anniversary. In the spirit of celebration we decided to write this blog post together. Here is what we have learned in the past two years:
We grow together when we take the time to really listen to one another.
It seems like we’ve been married forever.
True love has motivated us to form new habits to accommodate each other.
Iron sharpens iron.
Having a common foundation rooted in faith allows us remain united through change.
Its easy to tell who was the last to use the bathroom by the position of the toilet lid.
A king sized bed is worth every penny.
Conflicts are best resolved when each of us have an attitude of humility and vulnerability.
A gentle word really does turn away wrath.
If we could do it all over again we would still choose each other.
We have many stories and rich memories behind each of these lessons. For us, marriage is truly a gift and something that we regularly thank God for. The last two years have allowed both of us to grow and change in ways that we never would have on our own. Marriage is allowing us to become who God created us to be because it requires deep faith, selflessness and accountability. We don’t know what’s next for us, but we wholeheartedly agree that whatever it is, we’re excited that we get to do it together.
Love Shawn and Erica
