Hello! How are you?
This week has been full of ongoing, rapidly-changing information and an avalanche of changes. A few days ago I was feeling largely unaffected by the precautions and panic swirling around about the Coronavirus, but as of yesterday morning, I was left speechless by its far-reaching impact.
I am happy to report that so far all of us are healthy and we are choosing to honor the guidelines that our governing authorities have put in place. Because Shawn works at a small office, he has been able to continue to work, which has helped all of us keep a sense of routine in the midst of all of these changes. Since I already stay home full-time with our kids, life for them is largely the same too. I am quietly navigating canceled plans and closed facilities while keeping our kids sheltered from the mounting precautions around them. We're in a good place as a family and yet there is no doubt that we are living in uncertain times. I don't know how the uncertainty of this virus has left you feeling, but please know that we are thinking of you and pray that God would bless you in the midst of this trial.
This is one of the most humbling events of my lifetime so far. I don't know what's going to happen tomorrow, or the next day or the next. I don't know when the impact of this virus will slow down or when the precautionary social-distancing will be lifted. What I do know is that my hope is not in this temporal life. My hope is in the eternal life to come.
The world we live in is broken but a day is coming when the King of Kings and Lord of Lords will come back to restore it. Upon that return, He will abolish sin, and with it He will wipe out sickness and death once and for all. The earth will be healed, the wrongs will be made right and everything depleted will be restored. It is my faith in Jesus and the promise of a perfect, eternal home with Him that equips me to have peace in the midst of uncertainty. There is a better life to come for those who believe in Jesus.
You can put your hope in the life to come, and the One who will make all things new by confessing with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. Jesus loves you, He forgives you of all of your sins and He offers you salvation from the punishment of your sins when you believe in Him. Better things are to come!
This life is fragile, and at times, very painful, but thankfully, those who believe in Jesus can look forward to an eternal home with no sickness, or dying, or famine or darkness or sword.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me or Shawn if you need anything. We'd love to pray for you specifically and walk along side you in the midst of this, even from a distance.
With love,
Erica
